Paste. Into your KVM console. Finally.

KVM web consoles don’t let you paste. So you’ve been typing 64-character passwords by hand, one character at a time, squinting at a screen, wondering why this is still a problem in 2024. It isn’t anymore.

KVM Console

You know the drill

You open the KVM console in your browser. You’ve got a command ready — maybe it’s a long package installation string, maybe it’s a freshly generated password, maybe it’s a server config you spent twenty minutes writing. You go to paste it. Nothing. The console just sits there, indifferent, waiting for you to type.

So you type. You alt-tab back to the source, read a few characters, alt-tab to the console, type them, repeat. You mistype something on line three. You start over. By the time you’re done, you’ve burned ten minutes on something that should have taken five seconds.

This isn’t a niche problem. It’s every sysadmin who’s ever managed a VPS through a hosting provider’s web interface. IONOS does it. Proxmox does it. Plesk does it. They all hand you a noVNC console and then wave goodbye to your clipboard.

What this extension does

KVM Console Paste solves the problem the only way the problem can be solved: it simulates keystrokes. Since noVNC can’t accept a pasted string directly, the extension feeds your text to the console one character at a time, pretending to be a very fast typist. The console doesn’t know the difference.

You can trigger it three ways: press Ctrl+V while the console has focus and it just works, open the extension popup and send text from there, or right-click any selected text and choose “Paste to KVM Console.”

The typing speed is adjustable — from 10ms to 200ms per character — so if your connection is slow or the console drops characters at high speed, you dial it back. There’s also a configurable delay after each Enter keystroke for multi-line scripts. A progress bar shows you where it is. A cancel button stops it if something goes wrong.

What’s in the box

  • Paste into any noVNC-based KVM console — no configuration required
  • Auto-detects the console on the page, including when it’s inside an iframe
  • Three ways to paste: Ctrl+V shortcut, extension popup, right-click context menu
  • Adjustable typing speed (10ms–200ms per character) for slow connections
  • Configurable delay after Enter for multi-line commands and scripts
  • Progress indicator with cancel button
  • 100% free — no account, no subscription, no limits
  • No data collection. Nothing leaves your browser. Nothing.

How it works

Open your KVM console

Go to your hosting panel, launch the KVM or VNC console as you normally would, and let it load. The extension detects it automatically.

Paste your text

Click inside the console so it has focus, then press Ctrl+V. Or open the extension popup and paste your text there. Or right-click selected text anywhere on the page.

Done

The extension types your text into the console, character by character, at the speed you’ve set. Watch the progress bar. Go get a coffee if it’s a long script.

Works with your setup

If your hosting provider gives you a web-based KVM console, there’s a good chance it runs on noVNC. KVM Console Paste is built specifically for noVNC.

  • ✅ IONOS Cloud / VPS
  • ✅ Proxmox VE
  • ✅ Plesk
  • ✅ Any noVNC-based console

Not sure if your provider uses noVNC? If your web console renders in the browser without installing anything extra, and Ctrl+V does nothing — try the extension. If a console is there, it’ll find it.

Your clipboard stays yours

The extension reads your clipboard to do its job, then forgets it ever saw it. No external servers. No analytics. No usage tracking. Everything happens locally, inside your browser.

The extension makes zero network requests of its own — it can’t send your data anywhere because it was never written to do that. Passwords, commands, configuration files: whatever you paste stays between you and your server.
