KVM Console Paste: paste into any noVNC KVM console

Web KVM consoles don't let you paste. KVM Console Paste fixes that by typing your clipboard text into the console for you, one keystroke at a time. It works with noVNC-based consoles, runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

Works with
noVNC web KVM consoles: IONOS, Proxmox VE, Plesk

Why you can't paste into a KVM console

  • A web KVM console (noVNC) shows the server's screen as an image inside the browser.
  • It sends key presses, not text, so Ctrl+V does nothing.
  • Without help you end up typing long passwords, commands and config files by hand.

How it works

  1. Open your KVM console from your hosting panel and let it load. The extension detects it automatically, even inside an iframe on another domain.
  2. The first time, allow the extension on that site with one click. It lists every domain it needs, including the console frame, and is blocked everywhere else.
  3. Paste: click inside the console and press Ctrl+V, use Send to console in the extension popup (Alt+Shift+V opens it), or right-click the console.
  4. If the text has line breaks, it asks first: each one presses Enter and runs a command. Then it types it, with progress and a cancel button.

Features

  • Ctrl+V, Send to Console button or right-click menu.
  • Adjustable typing speed, from 10 to 200 ms per character, for slow connections or consoles that drop characters.
  • Delay after Enter for multi-line commands and scripts.
  • Auto-detection of the console on the page, including iframes.
  • Progress indicator and cancel button.
  • Asks before running commands: text with line breaks shows a preview first, because each line break presses Enter on the server.
  • Warns about risky characters such as ñ, á or €, which depend on the server keyboard layout. Useful for passwords.
  • Keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+V) and interface in English and Spanish.
  • Blocked by default: you choose which sites it runs on, one click per site.

Compatibility

  • IONOS Cloud / VPS
  • Proxmox VE
  • Plesk
  • Any hosting provider that uses the noVNC web console

Not sure your provider uses noVNC? If the console opens in the browser without installing anything and Ctrl+V does nothing, try the extension.

Privacy

  • It reads your clipboard only when you paste, turns it into keystrokes and does not store it.
  • Settings (typing speed, newline delay, options) stay in your browser and never leave your device.
  • No external servers, no analytics, no third-party services.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't Ctrl+V work in my KVM console?

noVNC sends key presses, not text, so the clipboard never reaches the server. The extension types it for you.

Is it safe to paste passwords?

The text is read only when you paste, typed into the console and not stored or sent anywhere. Everything happens in your browser. If the password has characters like ñ or €, the extension warns you: they depend on the server keyboard layout.

Can a paste run commands by accident?

Not without you seeing it. If the text has line breaks, the extension shows a preview and asks before typing, because each line break presses Enter.

Some characters go missing. What do I do?

Lower the typing speed in the settings, and raise the delay after Enter for multi-line scripts.

Does it work with Proxmox, IONOS or Plesk?

Yes. They use noVNC web consoles, which is what the extension is built for.

Why does it do nothing on my console page?

It is blocked on every site by default. Open the extension popup on that page and allow the domains it lists. Since version 1.1 that includes the console frame, which on IONOS lives on another domain.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no subscription, no limits.
