When Breakdance makes sense

Breakdance makes sense if you want a visual editor and to design WooCommerce shop pages without much code. If what matters most is finding plenty of professionals who know it, Elementor has the edge.

We would choose it if…

  • Your project is a shop and you want to design the cart, checkout and account pages.
  • You want to try before paying, with a real free version.
  • You like knowing an expired licence does not switch off Pro features.

We would look elsewhere if…

  • You need the largest ecosystem of templates and extensions.
  • You will rely on any professional already knowing the tool.
  • You want a one-off payment: plans are annual.

Breakdance for WooCommerce shops

This is its clearest strength. The Pro plan includes designing the shop page, search and filters, product pages, cart, checkout and My Account. The free version stops at a basic integration.

If the shop needs its own logic or has to connect to other software, that goes beyond the builder: see WooCommerce integrations.

What happens if you stop paying

This is where it differs from other options. According to its pricing page, if the licence expires the site keeps working with Pro features; what you pay for is support, updates and the design library.

That does not mean you can forget about it: a site without updates builds up risk. It is better seen as room to decide calmly than as a reason not to renew.

Free plan or Pro

The free version is good for a simple site and for trying the tool. Left out, among other things, are the header and mega menu builders, form email delivery and webhooks. If you need them, Pro pays off from the start.

Alternatives

If it does not fit, compare it with these

Elementor

Elementor makes sense when editing visually on your own matters more than every kilobyte. If speed comes first, or the site will have a lot of custom logic, there are better options.

Bricks

Bricks makes sense when you want control over the result and someone with technical judgement will maintain the site. If you will edit everything yourself with no technical knowledge, another editor is usually more comfortable.

See Bricks

Oxygen

Oxygen makes sense if someone who knows layout will run it and you prefer a one-off payment. If you will edit the design without that background, it is not the most comfortable option.

Etch

Etch makes sense if you want to avoid depending on a builder and there is a technical profile behind the site. It is newer than the other options, so there are fewer professionals and extensions.

EmDash

EmDash makes sense for a content site built with Astro, if editors need a panel and someone technical handles the rest. If you need WordPress plugins or a WooCommerce shop, it is not for you.

Who does the work

We are a studio from Oleiros (A Coruña, Spain) with 8 years of hands-on WordPress experience, working freelance since February 2018. You talk to the person who does the work, not to a go-between. Meetings are by video call and, if you are in the city of Barcelona, we can also meet in person.
