Web design with Elementor, without ending up with a slow site
It is a sensible option if you want to edit your site without relying on anyone. We tell you whether it fits, which plan you need and how to build it so it still runs well in a few years.
When Elementor makes sense
Elementor makes sense when editing visually on your own matters more than every kilobyte. If speed comes first, or the site will have a lot of custom logic, there are better options.
We would choose it if…
- You will change text and pages yourself, without technical help.
- You want a well-known visual editor that is easy to hand to another professional.
- Your site is already on Elementor and works: tidying it up usually beats rebuilding it.
We would look elsewhere if…
- Speed is your priority and every added plugin worries you.
- You do not want to pay a renewal for the Pro features.
- The site is nearly all custom logic, with little design to edit.

Which Elementor plan you need
For a simple site, the free version or Essential may be enough. The jump usually comes with shops, popups or custom code: Essential does not include them, so you need Advanced Solo or higher.
Count the renewal as one more cost of the site. Elementor Pro also needs the free version to stay installed and active.
If you already have an Elementor site
Before rebuilding anything, we check whether the problem is Elementor or what has piled up on top: widget add-ons, heavy templates, unoptimised images. It can often be fixed with speed optimisation.
If the site has reached its limit, we talk about a redesign. And if you change builder, expect to rebuild the design: the content can be reused, but one builder’s layout does not transfer to another as it is.
How to stop it becoming slow
We use global styles instead of adjusting each element, few third-party extensions and shared templates for headers, footers and product pages. That means less to load and less to change when it is time to update.
If it does not fit, compare it with these
Bricks
Bricks makes sense when you want control over the result and someone with technical judgement will maintain the site. If you will edit everything yourself with no technical knowledge, another editor is usually more comfortable.
See BricksOxygen
Oxygen makes sense if someone who knows layout will run it and you prefer a one-off payment. If you will edit the design without that background, it is not the most comfortable option.
See OxygenEtch
Etch makes sense if you want to avoid depending on a builder and there is a technical profile behind the site. It is newer than the other options, so there are fewer professionals and extensions.
See EtchBreakdance
Breakdance makes sense if you want a visual editor and to design WooCommerce shop pages without much code. If what matters most is finding plenty of professionals who know it, Elementor has the edge.
See BreakdanceEmDash
EmDash makes sense for a content site built with Astro, if editors need a panel and someone technical handles the rest. If you need WordPress plugins or a WooCommerce shop, it is not for you.

Who does the work
We are a studio from Oleiros (A Coruña, Spain) with 8 years of hands-on WordPress experience, working freelance since February 2018. You talk to the person who does the work, not to a go-between. Meetings are by video call and, if you are in the city of Barcelona, we can also meet in person.
Elementor: frequently asked questions
Is Elementor bad for SEO?
Not in itself. Google does not penalise a builder, but a careless build can give worse Core Web Vitals. You can rank well with Elementor if you watch what loads and how the content is structured.
What happens if I stop paying for Elementor Pro?
According to Elementor, the site stays online and your projects are kept, but Pro features stop working until you renew, and you lose updates, including security ones.
Can I edit the site myself afterwards?
Yes, and that is the main reason to choose it. We leave styles and templates defined so you can change content without breaking the design, and we show you how.
Is Elementor suitable for an online shop?
Yes, with WooCommerce and a plan that includes eCommerce. Depending on how particular the shop is, we weigh it against another builder or a custom theme.
