Web design with Oxygen Builder, or how to carry on with the site you have
Oxygen suits technical profiles and anyone who does not want annual renewals. If you already have an Oxygen site, we help you decide whether to update it, maintain it or change.
When Oxygen makes sense
Oxygen makes sense if someone who knows layout will run it and you prefer a one-off payment. If you will edit the design without that background, it is not the most comfortable option.
We would choose it if…
- A professional will run the design and wants control.
- You prefer a one-off payment to a subscription.
- You already work with Oxygen and know how it builds.
We would look elsewhere if…
- You want to change the design yourself without knowing layout.
- You are after the largest ecosystem of templates and professionals.
- Nobody will be in charge of updating it.

If your site is on an old version of Oxygen
This is the most delicate case. Before updating, we make a copy of the site and check templates, add-ons and the shop there. Jumping versions directly in production is the quickest way to have a problem.
If you only need it to keep working and stay secure, WordPress maintenance may be enough. If the site has fallen short, we consider a redesign.
One-off payment: what it does and does not do
A licence with no renewal removes a fixed cost, which is a real advantage if you have several sites. It does not remove the work: updates still have to be tested and applied, and that still takes time.
Before leaving Oxygen
Do not assume the design will survive if you deactivate the builder. Before changing tool, we test it on a copy and separate what can be reused, usually the content, from what will need rebuilding.
If it does not fit, compare it with these
Elementor
Elementor makes sense when editing visually on your own matters more than every kilobyte. If speed comes first, or the site will have a lot of custom logic, there are better options.
See ElementorBricks
Bricks makes sense when you want control over the result and someone with technical judgement will maintain the site. If you will edit everything yourself with no technical knowledge, another editor is usually more comfortable.
See BricksEtch
Etch makes sense if you want to avoid depending on a builder and there is a technical profile behind the site. It is newer than the other options, so there are fewer professionals and extensions.
See EtchBreakdance
Breakdance makes sense if you want a visual editor and to design WooCommerce shop pages without much code. If what matters most is finding plenty of professionals who know it, Elementor has the edge.
See BreakdanceEmDash
EmDash makes sense for a content site built with Astro, if editors need a panel and someone technical handles the rest. If you need WordPress plugins or a WooCommerce shop, it is not for you.

Who does the work
We are a studio from Oleiros (A Coruña, Spain) with 8 years of hands-on WordPress experience, working freelance since February 2018. You talk to the person who does the work, not to a go-between. Meetings are by video call and, if you are in the city of Barcelona, we can also meet in person.
Oxygen: frequently asked questions
Does Oxygen have a one-off payment?
Yes. Its pricing page offers a lifetime licence for unlimited sites, with no annual renewal. The price can change, so check it before buying.
Oxygen or Breakdance?
They share a founder, but the approach differs. Oxygen has a one-off licence and is aimed at people who build with technical judgement. Breakdance has a free version and annual plans, and is more accessible to start with.
Can an old site be updated to Oxygen 6?
It has to be checked case by case, on a copy and never directly in production. If something does not work, the decision may be to stay on the current version with maintenance, adapt the design or rebuild it.
Does Oxygen suit me if I will edit the site myself?
For changing content, it can be prepared. For touching the design without layout knowledge, another editor is usually more comfortable.
